On April 2nd, during spring break, our youth group had the incredible opportunity to visit UNC-Chapel Hill and participate in HEAL Day with the School of Medicine.
We explored careers in healthcare through hands-on activities and heard directly from professionals like Clinical Laboratory Scientists, Pharmaceutical Scientists, and a Speech-Language Pathologist. It was an inspiring experience that opened our eyes to the many paths in the medical field.
Later, with help from the Carolina Latinx Center (CLC), we enjoyed a student-led tour of UNC’s beautiful campus. We connected with current Latine students, learned about academic opportunities, and even saw our amazing alumna who is now a junior at Carolina!
Huge thanks to Nicole Cornett for organizing the day and treating us to lunch at Chase Dining Hall. We’re also grateful to the CLC for their warm welcome and inspiring guides.
This visit gave us a glimpse into future possibilities—and reminded us of the power of community, education, and dreaming big.
