We celebrate and promote our rich Latin American cultural traditions, creativity, and contributions through exhibits, performances, cultural activities, and community events. Our offices are also decorated with Latin American paintings, prints, and artifacts, creating a welcoming and culturally relevant space for our community.
We create spaces for Latinx families to feel proud and connected to our cultural heritage, while bringing together people of all backgrounds to enjoy our traditions and build community.
Our goals are to:
- Strengthen our sense of belonging
- Honor our cultural traditions
- Promote Latinx artists
- Foster connection and solidarity across generations and communities
At the heart of the program is our annual Hispanic Heritage Fiesta, the largest multicultural celebration focused on Latinx culture in Chatham County. Held each September in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Fiesta attracts thousands of people for a free, family-friendly outdoor celebration featuring live music, folkloric dances, traditional foods, arts & crafts, games for kids and teens, cultural exhibits, and outreach booths from businesses and agencies.
Activities
Hispanic Heritage Fiesta
Our annual Hispanic Heritage Fiesta is a vibrant outdoor celebration of Latin American culture held each September at Shakori Hills Arts Center. We also collaborate with Chatham County and the Town of Siler City to issue proclamations in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.
Fiesta attractions:

- Folkloric dance groups
- Traditional foods
- Arts & Crafts vendors
- Games for kids and teens
- Cultural exhibits
- Parade of traditional outfits and quinceañeras

Fiesta is made possible thanks to the generous partnership of local businesses, agencies, sponsors, foundations, and volunteers. Together, they help keep Fiesta free and accessible to thousands of families in our region.
Cultural Celebrations & Community Events
Periodically, we organize cultural activities that celebrate Latinx heritage, traditions, identity, and belonging.
Support for Latinx Artists & Performers
We create opportunities for Latinx musicians, dancers, and artists to share their talents, traditions, and stories with the broader community.
Youth Engagement & Leadership
Our Orgullo Latinx Pride youth members organize cultural events at Jordan Matthews and Seaforth high schools, and participate in other cultural celebrations in Chatham County, including Juneteenth organized by CORE
