Advocacy & Civic Engagement

Our Approach to Advocacy & Civic Engagement

We empower the Latinx community to overcome barriers, engage in civic life, and organize for social change. By building leadership and collective power, we help community members advocate for themselves, their families, and their future.

Our program is rooted in the deep trust and relationships we have built with our constituents over the past 30 years. From local communities to statewide coalitions, we advance immigrant rights and help build a stronger democracy in North Carolina.

We are a 501(c)3 nonpartisan organization.

Our goals are to:

  • Protect and advance the rights of immigrants and the Latinx community
  • Foster civic participation and community engagement
  • Promote a more equitable, just, and inclusive society for all
  • Make sure every eligible voter has the information and support they need to cast their ballot.

Our Initiatives

Faith Community ID Drives

The Faith ID is a community identification for individuals without access to a government-issued ID, including immigrants and refugees, unhoused individuals, those recently released from incarceration, and everyone who believes in a diverse and inclusive community.
The Faith ID is not a state-issued ID, cannot be used for voting, and does not provide legal immigration status. It is designed as a community identification tool for law enforcement, health centers, schools, nonprofits, and businesses.

We host Faith ID drives at least once a year in collaboration with El Centro Hispano, Chatham County Sheriff’s Office and Siler City Police Department.

Faith ID requirements include:

  • Attend an orientation and dialogue session with local law enforcement
  • Provide proof of identity
  • Provide proof of current address
  • $10 cash fee

The Faith ID program was developed by Faith Action International House. Partners currently offer IDs in North and South Carolina, as well as Florida, Virginia, Iowa, Ohio, and Oregon.

National Night Out (NNO)

Hosted on the first Tuesday of October, in Siler City. NNO brings together residents, law enforcement, and community organizations to promote safety, connection, and unity.

Activities include:

  • Outreach booths from organizations and businesses
  • Family-friendly games
  • Food
  • Cultural performances

Your time can make a meaningful impact.

Help strengthen and support our community through outreach, advocacy, events, and education. Volunteers play an important role in helping us connect families with resources, organize campaigns, and provide language support.
