Orgullo Latinx Pride Youth Leaders Show Compassion in Action at Animal Farm Refuge

February 17, 2025

On February 8th, our Orgullo Latinx Pride (OLP) youth leaders embraced an exciting opportunity to give back to the community by volunteering at the Animal Farm Refuge in Pittsboro. This hands-on experience allowed them to engage with the environment, care for farm animals, and understand the importance of animal welfare.

Throughout the day, our youth leaders enthusiastically worked on various tasks to help maintain the animals’ well-being. They cleaned the cows’ pasture, ensuring that the area was fresh and comfortable for the animals. One of the highlights was replacing the straw in the cows’ bedding, providing them with a clean, cozy space to rest. In addition to their hard work, our group had the pleasure of meeting some of the farm’s beloved residents, including Blackberry, a friendly turkey, and several curious sheep and goats. These interactions brought joy to our youth as they witnessed the animals’ unique personalities up close.

The day wasn’t just about hard work, though. After completing their tasks, our youth enjoyed some rewarding moments connecting with the animals they helped care for. These interactions were not only heartwarming but also a reminder of the impact that compassion and care can have on living creatures.

We extend a huge thank you to our OLP youth leaders for their dedication and the kindness they displayed at the Animal Farm Refuge. Their efforts helped create a safer and cleaner environment for the animals, demonstrating that compassion in action makes a difference.

We are so proud of their commitment to serving the community and caring for others—both humans and animals alike!
