This summer, youth leaders from our Orgullo Latinx Pride (OLP) program rolled up their sleeves and got to work—literally!
On June 12th and 18th, our incredible OLP teens partnered with Habitat for Humanity for a hands-on volunteer experience building the foundation of a new home. With hard hats on and tools in hand, they helped lay insulation panels and learned the importance of energy-efficient building practices. More importantly, they experienced the power of community, teamwork, and service.
For many of our youth, this was their first time engaging in construction work. Guided by Habitat staff and volunteers, they worked side by side to carefully measure and place insulation that will one day help keep a family safe and warm. While the task was physically demanding, their enthusiasm never wavered. With every panel measured and every foundation lined, our youth leaders demonstrated what collaboration and purpose look like in action.
This partnership offered more than just service hours—it was a valuable opportunity to lead, connect with one another, and reflect on the importance of accessible, quality housing in our communities.
We’re incredibly proud of their dedication, work ethic, and commitment to giving back. The future is truly bright with young leaders like these paving the way—one home, and one act of service, at a time.
