Guess who met Governor Roy Cooper!? Nine of our youth group members did! (10 if you count our former Jet, now Unicorn, Aiden!)
From September 16th to 19th, nine members of our youth group had the incredible opportunity to represent Chatham County as part of the Latine Governor’s Page Program Week! It was an unforgettable experience, packed with learning and growth. The students toured important government buildings, learned how state government functions, and met inspiring leaders who are shaping the future of North Carolina—including Governor Cooper himself!
Throughout the week, the students embraced this unique opportunity to engage with our community and expand their knowledge of government. “It was both a challenge and an honor to represent Chatham as young Latine leaders,” the youth shared. The experience left them more motivated than ever to continue making a difference.
We want to extend our deepest gratitude to our OLP Program Director, who drove the students to Raleigh every day and made sure they were able to participate fully. Big thanks also to their principals for supporting them and encouraging them to take part in such a meaningful program.
They are the future, and this is only the beginning! ❤️
