Orgullo youth collect 153 shirts for farmworkers
As part of National Farmworkers Awareness Week, our Orgullo Latinx Pride Youth Program joined the shirt collection drive from the Association of Farmworker Opportunity Programs to donate to farmworker families in NC. Our youth led a donation drive and collected 153 shirts so farmworkers can protect themselves from the sun 🌞 and pesticides. This was our small gesture of solidarity with farmworkers who work so hard to feed us all!
A shout out to our youth members from Seaforth High School for their leadership and initiative and to our JM youth for supporting the effort! Thank you to all who donated 🙏🏽
We also want to thank SAF (Student Action with Farmworkers) for coming to Siler City and Pittsboro to speak with our youth about the lives of farmworker in NC and the US. They learned a lot from this activity with Siler City’s own Librado Mendoza.
