DACA Update & Scholarships
On July 16, 2021, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas ruled that the DACA policy “is illegal”, reversing the New York Federal Court Ruling that had reinstated DACA last year.
What does it mean for DREAMers?
IF YOU HAVE A DACA PERMIT:
- Nothing changes. You can renew your DACA. We recommend that you renew at least 6 months before it expires. DHS is taking longer than usual to process the applications.
- DACA recipients can still apply for advance parole.
IF YOU DON’T HAVE DACA BUT ARE ELIGIBLE:
- You can submit a new DACA application to DHS, but your application will not be processed until the case is resolved.

If the courts once again rule in favor of reinstating DACA, we will offer scholarships for new and renewing applicants.
