El Vínculo Hispano  seeks a dynamic and motivated individual to lead our Advocacy and Civic Engagement Program.  The program’s purposes are to build the long-term power of directly impacted Latinxs and protect and advance the rights of immigrants in North Carolina.
Primary responsibilities:
  • Empower  directly impacted Hispanics to identify issues of common concern and develop strategies to address these issues
  • Coordinate leadership, civic engagement, and know your rights trainings
  • Develop response strategies to address raids and deportations
  • Assist in the case management for families impacted by raids or deportations
  • Participate in regional and statewide coalitions to advance immigrants’ rights
  • Engage in Census 2020 efforts to ensure that Latinxs are counted
  • Participate in voter outreach and education
  • Recruit and manage program volunteers
  • Manage program related social media and text messaging service
  • Assist in fund raising efforts
  • Prepare program reports for the board of directors and funders
  • Participate in other organizational activities and events
  • Utilize our database and other tools to track program data and results
Qualifications:
  • Fluent in Spanish and English (must be able to speak, read and write)
  • At least 2 years’ experience in community organizing with Latinxs
  • College degree preferred
  • Ability to work with persons of varying socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
  • Organized and strategic
  • Team builder and team player
  • Committed to social justice and equity
  • Knowledgeable of Latin American cultures
  • Proficient in MS Office programs
  • Resilient and adaptable
  • Able to manage priorities and deadlines
  • Willing to work some evenings and weekends

  • Able to relate to immigrants’ experiences
  • Able to motivate and inspire community members and allies
  • Knowledgeable of racial and gender equity principals
  • Experience with grant writing and fundraising a plus

Compensation:

Salary range of $31,200 to $35,300 annually, depending on experience
10 days’ vacation, 11 paid holidays, 12 days’ sick leave plus health insurance stipend
